Downloading Content Automatically with the PEGMedia Desktop App

Last Updated:September 30, 2026

Beta: The PEGMedia Desktop app is currently in a beta testing period. If you run into any problems, we'd love your feedback — email us at support@pegmedia.org.

The PEGMedia Desktop app makes it easy for community members to get the content they want from PEGMedia. Instead of downloading each file manually from the website, the app watches your download queue and pulls new content down to your computer automatically. You can even subscribe to a show or a producer and turn on auto-purchase so that every new episode is downloaded for you as soon as it's published.

This guide walks through installing the app, signing in, configuring your settings, and setting up automatic downloads.

Before you start

  • You'll need a PEGMedia account with community membership. Community members can download all content for free.

  • The app is available for macOS (Apple Silicon), macOS (Intel), and Windows.

1. Download the app

During the beta, the download page isn't linked from the main navigation — go to it directly:

app.pegmedia.org/download-pegmedia-app

Choose the download for your platform:

  • macOS (Apple Silicon) — newer Macs

  • macOS (Intel) — older Macs

  • Windows

2. Install the app

On Windows, run the downloaded installer and follow the standard prompts.

On macOS, opening the download presents a window where you drag the PEGMedia Desktop icon into your Applications folder.

Once installed, launch the app.

3. Sign in

The first time you open the app, you'll be prompted to sign in to PEGMedia.

  1. Click Sign in. Your web browser opens.

  2. Sign in with the PEGMedia account you want to connect.

  3. Authorize the app when prompted.

  4. Return to the PEGMedia Desktop app. Your account name appears at the top of the app, and a Sign Out button appears in Settings, so you know you're signed in.

4. Configure your settings

After signing in, open the Settings tab.

  • Download Directory — where downloaded files are saved. The default is your Downloads folder. Click Browse to choose a different folder.

  • Poll Interval (seconds) — how often the app checks your download queue for new items. The default is 60 seconds.

  • Automatically download new queue items — turn this on to have the app download new queue items as soon as it finds them. If it's off, you'll need to start downloads from the Queue tab.

  • Launch on startup — starts the app when your computer starts, and keeps it running in the system tray. This change applies right away.

  • API URL — leave this set to https://app.pegmedia.org unless PEGMedia support asks you to change it.

Click Save Settings.

To sign out, click Sign Out. Your app version and Check for updates are at the bottom of the screen.

Keeping the app up to date

The app updates itself automatically once installed. You can also check manually with Check for updates at the bottom of the Settings screen.

Using the Queue tab

The Queue tab lists everything in your PEGMedia download queue, with each episode's show name, quality, file size, and run time.

  • Download — download a single episode.

  • Download All — download everything in your queue.

  • Refresh — check your queue right away, instead of waiting for the next poll interval.

  • Remove — take an episode out of your queue.

If Automatically download new queue items is turned on in Settings, the app downloads new items for you, and you don't need to use these buttons.

5. Add content to your download queue

With the app running and Automatically download new queue items turned on, anything you add to your download queue on the website is picked up and downloaded automatically.

Adding Content to Your Download Queue

  1. Go to pegmedia.org and browse or search for the content you want.

  2. Open an episode. As a community member, episodes show as Free with your community membership.

  3. Click Add to Download Queue.

You can add items to your queue from any device — for example, while browsing on your phone. The app picks up new items the next time it checks your queue (every 60 seconds by default), or right away if you click Refresh.

Note

If your PEGMedia account is also connected to Cablecast, episodes Cablecast downloads are removed from your queue and won't appear in the app.

6. Subscribe to shows or producers and turn on auto-purchase for automatic downloads

The real convenience comes from subscriptions. When you subscribe and choose an auto-purchase option, new episodes are added to your queue — and downloaded by the app — automatically.

Note: Subscriptions are only available to community members at this time.

  1. On pegmedia.org, open a show (or a producer).

  2. Click Subscribe on the show or producer page. The Manage subscription window opens.

  3. In Manage subscription, turn on Subscribe to new episodes so you're notified when new episodes are published.

  4. Choose how new episodes are handled:

  • Just notify me — don't auto-add; only tell you when new episodes are published.

  • Always auto-purchase — add and purchase every new episode. Sponsored episodes are free to you; otherwise, your balance is charged.

  • Only when the producer sponsors — auto-purchase only episodes that are free to you (producer-sponsored). You're never charged.

  1. Click Done.

From then on, as that show or producer publishes new episodes, they'll flow into your download queue, and the app will download them automatically, as long as Automatically download new queue items is turned on.
