Cablecast CG Channel Layout Explained

Last Updated:June 4, 2026

Overview

Cablecast CG is organized around three concepts: Channels, Zones, and Bulletins. This article explains how they fit together.

Here's an example of what a channel in Cablecast CG might look like:

Channels, Zones, and Bulletins

Channel: A channel is everything you see on your display or output when it's on. All of the content you build is displayed on a channel.

Zone: Channels are broken up into one or more zones. Zones are individual areas on your channel where you place content, and you build content for specific zones. To switch between zones while you work, see Navigating Between Zones in Cablecast CG.

Bulletin: Zones hold one or more bulletins — the messages, audio, video, images, and alerts that make up your content. Bulletins are the actual visual elements that appear on the display.

The example channel shown above puts these pieces together. It is a single Channel divided into three Zones: a Sidebar zone at the upper left, a Main Information and Video zone at the upper right, and a Lower Feed zone across the bottom. Each of those zones then holds one or more Bulletins — for example, the weather and social streaming content displayed within them.

Stripped of its content, the same channel's zone layout looks like this:

Summary

Cablecast CG content nests in three layers: a Channel is the full display, each channel contains one or more Zones, and each zone holds one or more Bulletins. Keeping this structure in mind makes it easier to build and organize what appears on your channel.
