What's in This Section

Internet Channels

Internet Channels is where you configure and customize the web-based channels where viewers can watch your content online. You can create as many Internet Channels as you need at no additional cost. Some stations use multiple channels to organize programming by theme — for example, a dedicated channel for holiday programming, a town anniversary special, or a featured producer's content.

Note: Internet Channels that are not linked to a linear cable channel will not display a live stream Watch button or a channel schedule.

Live Streaming

Live Streaming is where you can monitor and share your active live streams. Each configured live stream appears in the left panel. Selecting a stream opens a player where you can watch the stream, access embed codes for sharing the stream on other websites, and view the stream log. Note: Because Cablecast uses HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) for delivery, the player is typically 30–40 seconds behind the live programming outputting on the video server. This is expected behavior, not an error.

Live stream configuration is handled by Cablecast Support during system setup.

Note: Live Streaming is only available on systems with a Live stream component. If you don't see this option, your system is not configured for live streaming.

Video on Demand

Video on Demand (VOD) is where you monitor the status of on-demand video processing for your location. Shows are listed by show number and title, and you can filter by status using the tabs at the top: Waiting, Processing, Complete, Failed, and All. Use the search field to look up a specific show across all VODs.

You can also manage VOD settings on a show-by-show basis directly within each Show Record. Open a Show Record and select the Internet Video tab to enable or disable VOD for that show, adjust VOD settings, add or edit chapter markers, access embed codes, view the stream log, and generate a Smart Summary. Changes made here apply only to that individual show.

Note: Video on Demand requires a VOD component. If you don't see this option, contact Cablecast Support to discuss adding VOD to your system.

Chapter Live Events

Chapter Live Events lets you add chapter markers to live event recordings, making it easier for viewers to navigate to specific sections when watching on demand. The page displays two lists: Unpublished Chapters, which shows recordings with chapters that haven't been published yet, and Upcoming Events, which lists scheduled live shows available for chaptering. Select Chapter next to any upcoming event to begin adding chapters.

Note: Chapter Live Events requires a VOD component. If you don't see this option, your system is not configured for VOD.

Audio Descriptions

Audio descriptions narrate visual information that isn't conveyed through dialogue — such as a presenter pointing to a chart or on-screen graphics — so that viewers who are blind or have low vision can follow along with your full programming. Under ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 AA, audio descriptions are required for pre-recorded video content published by state and local government agencies.

Cablecast supports audio descriptions through Audio Sidecars — additional audio tracks attached to a VOD that viewers can switch to directly from the Internet Channel or OTT app player.

There are two ways to add an audio sidecar to a VOD:

Using MediaScribe Narrate

MediaScribe Narrate is an AI-powered audio description service from Tightrope Media Systems. The integration lets you request, review, and attach an audio description track without leaving Cablecast.

Using a third-party editor

If you produce audio descriptions using your own editing tools, you can attach the finished track manually.

  1. Export the audio description track from your preferred editing platform as an MP3, WAV, MP4, or OGG file (50MB maximum).

  2. Open the Show Record for the program.

  3. Go to the Internet Video tab.

  4. Scroll to the Audio Sidecars section and select Add Sidecar.

  5. Upload the file and save the Show Record.

Note: The Add Sidecar option accepts MP3, WAV, MP4, and OGG files up to 50MB.

Reflect Plus Content

Reflect Plus Content is where you monitor and manage the content uploaded to your REFLECT+ apps. The dashboard shows your current storage usage, the number of items successfully uploaded, any items that are over your storage limit, uploads in progress, and any failed uploads. Select Configure Content to set up the Saved Searches that control which content is automatically uploaded to REFLECT+.

Note: This option appears on systems with REFLECT+. Systems with basic REFLECT will see Reflect CDN instead — a simple toggle to enable or disable the Reflect CDN for your system. Reflect CDN configuration is handled by Cablecast Support.

Manage Member Access

Manage Member Access is where you configure membership-based content restrictions for your Internet Channel. Under General Settings, you can enable membership access control and select a Saved Search to define which content requires a membership to view. The Membership Payment Setup section connects to Stripe to handle membership purchases, with separate fields for test mode and live mode credentials.

Under Manage Memberships, you can view and manage individual member accounts.

Pay to Download

Pay to Download lets you configure paid download options for content on your Internet Channel. The Show Prices tab is where you create and manage price tiers. The Show Price Searches tab — which becomes available once at least one show price exists — lets you assign prices to groups of content using Saved Searches.
